Recently, a cousin asked permission to download an old house photo I have on flickr. It seems she wanted to convert it to black and white, make an 8x10, have it framed, and hang it on a wall. Of course I said, "sure." Nearly all my pictures on flickr are in the public domain, anyway. That started me thinking about doing the same thing myself. Our walls are completely covered with pictures, but there should be room for one more. Flickr has an edit option that is easy to use, so I had the picture converted to monochrome in no time. While I was at it, I straightened it a tad and did some tweaking. Here is the result.

I had another photo, taken on the same trip, that had disappointed me. I wondered if converting it in monochrome would improve it. After some tweaking:

The process was like eating peanut--it was hard to stop; I was having so much fun. I had another recent photo, one I'd taken of some late evening fog.

I know, I know. Don't quit my day-job.
