Nature favors us with a beautiful coating of ice. Fortunately, it's not as destructive as the one she gave us last year. I stand at the window and enjoy the view of white frosted grass, glazed crepe myrtle, and bowed pines without concern for broken limbs and destroyed trees. I do have concern for the small flock of Juncos that have chosen our homestead for their winter sojourn. Later, I'll find some food to scatter in the driveway for them.
I see an occasional car traveling cautiously down the highway. That reminds me of a major benefit of retirement. I can watch the world turn from the warm side of the window.
